Laurel Memorial Gardens Laurel Memorial Gardens was established in 1990 by the Twiford family.
The cemetery is located in Currituck County in Poplar Branch (near Grandy). This is
approximately 20 minutes drive from the Kitty Hawk area of the Outer Banks in Dare County. The
driving time from Chesapeake, Virginia is approximately 30 to 40
minutes. There are some restrictions as to the type of memorial that may be erected in certain parts of the cemetery. Outer Burial Containers are required for interments in Laurel Memorial Gardens. Opening/Closing fees and gravesite purchases are approximately 60% of what some perpetual cemeteries in Hampton Roads, Virginia charge. Gravesites may be purchased and Opening/Closing fees, combined, are less than $1200.00 per grave. This compares to Opening/Closing fees alone of over $800 in some Hampton Roads cemeteries. Many families feel that the 45 minute drive from our Twiford Funeral Home, Chesapeake, VA to save hundreds of dollars is more than worthwhile.
